About Stephen

STEPHEN ALAN BRODHAG Stephen was born in Coronado, CA to Donald and Shirley Brodhag on February 1, 1951. After graduating from Coronado High in 1969, Stephen relocated to Humboldt County to attend Humboldt State University. Stephen began his banking career with Home Federal Savings and Loan becoming a Branch Manager at the Ukiah office in 1978. In 1980 Stephen married Lori Bartley; welcoming two sons, Stephen Robert (1982) and Matthew James (1984). By 1992 Stephen worked for Wells Fargo Bank, developing friendships with many of his clients. In 2004, Stephen followed his dream to help people buy their own home or investment property, as a Realtor with RE/Max Humboldt Realty. He loved working with his clients to ensure they saw all their options, and made the best financial decision; even if it meant not getting a sale. Southwest Eureka Rotary had a special place in Stephen’s heart; he loved attending Friday meetings and spinning plates. The long lasting friendships gained through Rotary helped him through his most trying times; he THANKS each and every member of the club. Having a huge respect for our armed forces, prompted by his father’s service in the US Navy; the annual Veteran’s Day program was Stephen’s favorite service project. Stephen held numerous board positions including being honored as Club President twice, 1994-1995 and 2011-2012. On January 31, 1999 Stephen married and began his life with Rina Stagnoli; gaining two more children, Celestina “Chelsee” and Jason. Love, joy and laughter filled every day of their 16 year marriage. Steve and Rina enjoyed attending and supporting Rotary functions, from Whiskey and Cigars to Martini’s by the Bay as well as dressing up for all the themed fundraisers held. Family dinners were loved by both! During the fall, rooting against each other’s football teams and making bets to see who would start the fire or dinner made Sundays a special day. Stephen has five grandchildren he loved spoiling. He attended school events, ballet performances, sporting events and anything he could do to be present in their lives. Stephen is survived by his loving wife Rina Brodhag; son Steve, daughter-in-law April, grandchildren: Abigail, Emily, and Stevie; son Matthew, daughter-in-law Megan, grandchildren: Drake and Natalie; step-daughter Celestina; step-son Jason; mother Shirley Brodhag; father Don Brodhag; sister Janet Johnstone, brother-in-law Al; father-in-law Pete Stagnoli; mother-in-law Albina Stagnoli and many others. After his brief battle with complications from cancer, Stephen passed peacefully at home with his family around him on October 22, 2015.
